Actor Andrew Garfield set hearts aflutter with his recent appearance on popular YouTube series Chicken Shop Date hosted by Amelia Dimoldenberg. The pair shared viral moments at the November 2022 British GQ’s Man of the Year Awards and the 2023 Golden Globes. Fans were eager to see if the two had a real connection on her series, where she takes her famous guests out on a 'date'.

The October 2024 interview plays like a rom-com, but no, Garfield and Dimoldenberg are not dating in real life. Garfield is currently single. He did joke to Dimoldenberg, however, that his previous relationships have been 'flash[es] in the pan'.

In reality, it is more mixed. Garfield’s dating history contains brief affairs and long-term relationships. In a 2019 interview with IMDb, he talked very sincerely about his view on love.

'Yes, I do believe in love at first sight, but I also believe that you would love absolutely anybody if you knew their story,” he said. “I believe that the modern notion of romantic love is seriously misguided, and it creates a lot of problems in our modern world... I believe it’s possible for all of us to be in love all the time with ourselves and everyone around us.”

Garfield dated actress Shannon Woodward from 2008 until 2011. In 2010, he told Parade.com about their relationship and how his burgeoning acting career was keeping him busy.

'I think my girlfriend is proud of me and the fact that I’ve remained grounded,' he said. 'I’m just busier. That’s the main thing. I haven’t got as much time to mope about and complain that I’m bored. She travels with me when she's not working...Whenever we have time, we’re together. When I’m on my own, you’d find me in the ocean surfing.'

In May of that year, the Daily Mail reported they had split because his shooting schedule for The Amazing Spider-Man was so consuming that he 'literally never saw her.'

Emma Stone

Garfield met his Spider-Man co-star Emma Stone on set, and their on-screen chemistry translated easily to offscreen romance. In 2012, he told Teen Vogue that he felt an instant connection to her.

'It was like I woke up when she came in,' he said. 'It was like diving into white-water rapids and having no desire to hang onto the side. Throughout shooting, it was wild and exciting.'

Stone and Garfield broke up in 2015 while Garfield was working on the film Silence. An insider told People, 'There was no drama; they’ve been apart while working. They still care about each other. They still have love for one another. They are on good terms with each other and remain close.'

The source added that the challenge was their conflicting schedules. The two remain friends, and initial sightings of them together after their breakup sparked reconciliation rumors. But Stone got engaged to her husband, Dave McCary, in 2019, and they have one child.

Susie Abromeit

In 2018, Garfield was linked to actress Susie Abromeit when they were seen kissing in Malibu on a date. They seemed to fizzle out after a few months.

Rita Ora

At the end of 2018, Garfield was seen holding hands with pop star Rita Ora in London. That November, a source told The Sun, 'Things have started to heat up, and she says what they have is the real deal. It is still very early days, but they like each other and are seeing what happens. Their schedules make things different, but they have a real connection.'

The pair split up in March 2019. The Mirror reported that 'the relationship just fizzled out,' adding, 'It’s sad, but they have both accepted the situation and moved on.'

Alyssa Miller

Garfield was seen with model Alyssa Miller in November 2021 in New York City, but they had apparently been dating for a while. A source told The Sun in April 2022 that Miller and Garfield 'were together for quite some time before they went public.'

But they broke up that spring. The same insider said that their 'work schedules' made it 'really hard to see each other.'

They added, 'On top of that, it became clear that there were some differences between them, and it was decided they are better off apart, for now at least.'

Phoebe Dynevor

In 2022, Garfield was seen with Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor at GQ’s Men of the Year Awards in London. An insider speaking with The Sun said, 'Andrew and Phoebe clicked straight away, there was an immediate attraction. They know each other through various acquaintances in the business and plenty in common. But this is certainly no one-off encounter. After leaving together, they’ve since met up and are acting like a proper couple.'

But there were no further reports of them being on dates together. Dynevor is now engaged to Cameron Fuller.

Dr. Kate Tomas

In March 2024, the actor was seen on a double date with Dr. Kate Tomas and their friends Bo Burhnam and Phoebe Bridgers. When the relationship was revealed, a source told Us Weekly that Tomas is 'down-to-earth, and he feels very comfortable with her'.

They continued, 'Andrew really appreciates the fact that Kate is very different from other women he’s dated. He thinks she has a great sense of humor, and she’s easy to talk to.'

The pair were seen around London at celebrity hotspot Chiltern Firehouse and then at Wimbledon in July. In August, it was rumored they had broken up when Garfield was allegedly seen on dating app Raya.

Tomas then confirmed their split in October, writing in an Instagram comment, 'We broke up months ago, but I’m sure he will be happy to know that he is loved.'
